Who plays
Jake Meaney
Guitar and voice
When my dad's memorial came, a friend took the whole of the planning off my family so I could just be there and sing for him. That is what I do for other families now.
I sing and play guitar. What this service becomes is yours to decide, and I'll build it around what you tell me.
The musicians, the church or the funeral home, the order of the day, all of it. I take care of that before you ever get there.
Who comes with me
However many of us there are, the songs are the same ones you chose. More players simply means more of the room is carried by the music.
-
Just me
Guitar and voice. Quiet and close, and easy to hear in a smaller room.
-
With a pianist
Piano underneath the singing. Warmer, and it fills a church gently without taking it over.
-
With a violinist
Violin sits higher and brighter, and carries in a large space.
-
With a cellist
Cello sits lower and slower. Right when you want the room to be still.
-
A full band
When the songs ask for it, or when your loved one would have wanted it sung loudly.
Not sure which? Tell me about them and I'll say what I think would suit.
What it costs
It starts at $550, which is me and a guitar. Bringing other players in adds a little each time. Rather than have you work the rest out from a page, let's talk it through and I'll give you a straight number.
If money is tight, say so. We'll work it out.
